So for the past few months I've been working like crazy to get my next film off the ground. And it just hit me, if I was working like this for a production company I would be rich!
I'm working on shooting my first feature film and every day it feels like I'm running like a politician. You see I'm a Latina filmmaker. And although I have received many awards and a lot of people know me, getting this project off the ground has been like pulling teeth.
The attitudes out there are sometimes so negative that It's hard to not letting them affect me.
I'm creating a film in which Latinos are portrayed in a dignified and positive way, but what I'm hearing from some people is "get over it" "go for it but watch you back" How did we get so Jaded? Why is the American Latino community in this country so fragmented?
I know that we're all from different countries but at the end of the day in this Country we are ALL LATINO. There I am sounding like a politician once again lol.
I want to be a the source of making a change. It's hard to hear NO, day in and day out, but I think from now on every time I hear a NO I'm gonna hear it as a NOT YET.
Anyway this blogging thing may be for me, I'm already feeling better. Now off to make some T-shirt for a fundraiser I'm having, who knew T-shirts could be so expensive. But, you gotta spend money to make money
